Amelia Tionanda (Ketua Jurusan String)

Amelia started her violin lesson at the age of 12 with Ferdinand Suganda, and further on with Mrs. Therese Wirakesuma and Dr. Sharon Eng.

In 2007, Amelia won the 1st prize of Dr. Johannes Oentoro Violin Competition at Universitas Pelita Harapan, Indonesia.

Before her departure to Europe for further study, she was a member of many orchestra in Jakarta, and in 2008 she was chosen to play with The Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra.

Sheobtained her Bachelor and Master degree in Classical Music Performance at The Royal Conservatory of Music in Ghent, Belgium; under the guidance of Alessandro Moccia, Mikhail Kugel, Mikhail Bezverkhny, and Liliya Umnova.

During her stay in Europe 2008-2014, she was a member of some orchestras in Belgium and France, such as Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra, Les Symphonistes Europèens, Koninklijk Lyrisch Toneel Kortrijk, Het Vlaams-Brabant Orchestra, Alden Biesen Zomeropera, and orchestra projects from Conservatorium Gent, Tilburg, and Maastricht with the conductors such as Dirk Brosse, Arjan Tien, and Michael Tabachnik.

She also had performed in festivals such as Crescendo Summer Institute (Hungary) and Oberstdorf Musiksommer (Germany), and had masterclasses with Tanja Becker-Bender, Uwe Steinmeitz, David Danel, and Shirly Laub; as well as for chamber music with Doric Quartet and Minguett Quartet.

In 2010-2015, she also taught violin at Jeugd en Muziek Brussel, Belgium.

Since her return in  2014, Ms. Tionanda is an active member of Jakarta Sinfonietta, Jakarta Concert Orchestra, Jakarta Symfonia Orchestra, and Twilite Orchestra.

She is also actively giving masterclasses, orchestra workshop, and violin jury in various violin competition and festival in Indonesia.

Ms. Tionanda is currently working at at The Music Conservatory of Pelita Harapan University as Head Laboratory of Music Ensemble, and at the Gloriamus Music School as Head of String Department and violin teacher.
